GORAKHPUR - 26.7588°N 83.3697°E 2010

Hello Friends...,,,,,,
GORAKHPUR 2010

GORAKHPUR RLY STATION
Its my first tour outside Chennai. Gorakhpur - a city which have its boundaries with Bihar and Nepal.  The city is also home to many historic Buddhist sites, Imambara, an 18th century dargah, and the Gita Press, a publisher of Hindu religious texts. It is also the headquarter of North Eastern Railways. Gorakhnath Temple here has been a major site of attraction for the pilgrims. The famous Gita Press which publishes Hindu religious texts is located in the city of Gorakhpur. Sharing a border with the prominent region of Nepal. I reached the city at night as my train was late by 8hrs on Jan 2010. The initial view of the city gave me a negative image about it. People spitting gutka through out the roads, inside buses, infact every corner of the city. The whole night I was thinking "where I have reached"... As my days passed, as usual I become restless sitting in a place alone and doing a routine job. As a conclusion for it I decided to explore its outer area with the help of Wikipedia and Google.

BUDDHA SAMADHI
A place that strike my curiosity was         Kushinagar a place related to Buddhist Monastery. Gautama Buddha, founder of Buddhism, who was born at Kapilvastu in Nepal, renounced his princely clothing at the confluence of the rivers Rapti and Rohini, near Gorakhpur, before setting out on his quest of truth in 600 BCE. Later he died in the courtyard of Mall King Sastipal Mall at his capital Kushinara which is now known as Kushinagar, there is a monument to this effect at Kushinagar even today. Over all I should conclude by saying its not so bad as I thought and there are lot of places to visit and explore around it.

MONASTERY
RAILWAY MUSEUM

Nepal is one of them. You get a daily bus service to Sonali (last Indian Village) after that you can cross the border and enter Nepal and ahead to Pokhra or Kathmandu. Pokhra is an awesome tourist destination Jan-Feb are the best season to visit....

I missed the opportunity to explore these two places but definitely its in my list.....Keep Exploring ...
